For the Grisons University of Applied Sciences centre, we had the opportunity to support the development of user requirements. From the outset, people were at the heart of the process. In large, cross-departmental workshops, we sharpened the needs and translated them into concrete spatial requirements. The starting point was the students and researchers – with the aim of creating a research, learning and service environment that enables exchange, allows retreat and fosters new forms of collaboration. The campus was conceived as a place of education, in the sense of an open forum for encounter, project work and the transfer of knowledge and technology into the economy and society. Architectural quality, flexible and efficiently usable spaces, sustainable construction and high operational efficiency form the framework. What is decisive, however, is this: innovation was not anchored only in the architecture, but already in the thinking of the organisation.
