What does a Bostitch have to do with the Future of Work?

How to grow? After the successful turnaround in 2020–21, HIAG was back on an expansion course. The long-standing office on Löwenstrasse in Zurich was becoming cramped, and new strategies for dealing with its own working environment became necessary. A relocation was already being considered in principle, but first the company wanted to find out how future collaboration in the office should work and whether smart decisions might allow the existing premises to be kept a little longer.
Through participatory work, we developed a pilot project at the headquarters and were able to test it directly with the staff. For this, we used a specially designed internal communication motif: the Bostitch stapler was meant to symbolise how ideas bring the workforce together. It was, of course, important to keep the investment low. To also examine the possibility of a relocation, we applied an adapted zoning concept to an ideal floor plan. With this project, we were able to make a significant contribution to the decision-making process and to a smooth transition to a modern working environment.
