Modular from the Ground Up

The ETH Student Project House is a fascinating institution. Across five floors in Zurich's university centre and on a further floor at Hönggerberg, it has been giving intrinsically motivated students the space and tools to turn their extracurricular ideas into reality for the past ten years. 3D printers, a wood and electronics workshop, metalworking rooms, coworking and communal spaces come together here to form an innovative powerhouse for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Together with the project team, we reflected on the fundamental requirements and the way the spaces function. By adjusting the layouts and introducing partly newly developed modular furniture, we significantly improved the logic and usability of the offering within their space. Thanks to highly modular elements, we maximised both the flexibility of the premises and the efficiency of cost and space.
